Peru is located on the western coast of South America. It is a land of many contrasts.  Forty-five percent of the population is Indian; thirty-seven percent is Mestizo; fifteen percent of the people are White, with the remaining three percent Black, Japanese, Chinese, and other.

Peru has two official languages -- Spanish and the foremost indigenous language, Quechua. The children that Children of Promise ministers to speak Spanish.

Children of Promise in Peru

The children of Promise ministry began in Peru in 1996. This ministry is located in Chepen, on the dry coastal plain in the west. Sponsorship will soon begin in the city of Jaen. The children receive food, clothing, medicines when needed, and school supplies each month. Special gifts are given to the children at a Christmas celebration each year.

The positive results are evident in the sponsored children in Peru. They are healthier, more involved in their studies, and growing spiritually through this ministry carried out the Church of God.
