Children Helping Children

Many times our office receives calls from Sunday School teachers and Vacation Bible School directors serving in various churches across the nation. They ask if we can suggest any projects for their Sunday school and Vacation Bible School offerings. We certainly can!

Children love to help other children. And they are very effective at it. When children see a need, they respond with their whole hearts. Their natural generosity and compassion bubble forth, often in surprising ways.

Children of Promise is privileged to partner with individual children and groups of children in bringing life-giving relief to needy children all over the world. If you and your group of children would like to join in this mission effort, we warmly welcome you!  (We also welcome families who would like to take this on as an exciting project.)

When your children donate through "Children Helping Children", they will receive acknowledgement from Children of Promise. They will also hear specifically how their donation has helped Church of God children in countries around the world.

Children's leaders have been excited to watch their students rise to the challenge of meeting the needs of children in developing countries. And Children of Promise is deeply grateful for these young partners in mission.

Here are ways that you can help:

Mosquito Nets

Many children around the world suffer from malaria. Some children even die from it. When they sleep under mosquito nets, they have a better chance of avoiding malaria. So, mosquito nets are a great blessing! Treated mosquito nets (a net that is specially treated with insecticides) costs approximately $11 each. By providing these nets, you are helping children stay healthy and stay alive!

Bibles

There are many children who do not have their own Bibles. The cost of a Bible can depend on which language it is written in. Usually Bibles written in more common languages such as English, Spanish, or German are less expensive than Bibles written in languages such as Lunganda, Swahili, etc. The average cost of a Bible is $8 each.

Special School Supplies

Our project in Lebanon (Cedar Home) is always in need of good school bags with pencils, rulers, pens, etc.  Each bag with its supplies costs about $20.  Items will be purchased in Lebanon.

Camps

You can help girls at the Cedar Home for Girls in Lebanon attend special Christian camps during the summer or at Christmas time.  The cost for a 5-day camp is between $30 and $50 depending on age and location.

Shoes

While sponsorship provides shoes in many countries, in some it cannot.  We do have areas where the children desperately need shoes.  In many countries, a good pair of shoes can be purchased for $15.

Emergency Fund

Children sometimes have serious medical conditions which require surgery or advanced treatment. Regular sponsorship amounts for health sometimes cannot cover these costs. That is why we have the Emergency Fund to help children with more serious medical concerns. Donation of any amount are needed.

Sponsor a Child

Sometimes groups raise enough money to sponsor a child. This costs $25 a month or $300 per year per child. In this way, you can provide food, health care, schooling, and spiritual nurture for a child who will write to you and pray for you.
