COP Sunday Sponsorships Make Dreams Come True

Four weeks ago we met these special children in Chiromo, Malawi.  This is now the fourth site opened to serve the children from the Church of God in southern Malawi.  Currently, three girls and one boy are sponsored.  As in most new areas, we find numerous medical challenges.  Chiromo was no different.  Upon sponsorship, one child required surgery to correct a birth defect.  An albino child lost her body oil and shoes in the flooding that occurred earlier this year.  Another child showed all the outward signs of a upper respiratory infection.  Finally, the last child is undergoing tests to be diagnosed properly.  These children and the entire community are discovering first-hand that child sponsorship changes lives.

Rev. Emmanuel Masamba directs the program in Malawi.  As many of you know, Malawi was severely impacted by flooding earlier this year.  Under Emmanuel’s leadership and with the help of Children of Promise committee members and pastors, the homes of sponsored children which were destroyed by flooding now are rebuilt.  We met and talked with many of the families and toured their homes.

Children of Promise Sunday, slated for September 27th in many churches, can make a difference for these Malawi children and hundreds of other children in 28 countries.  Is your church hosting a COP Sunday event?  Not sure?  Ask your pastor or missions board chair. Volunteer to help host a COP Sunday event!  You can be the catalyst for change in children’s lives.

Let us know how we can help you and your congregation celebrate children in need.  Churches may host their events anytime they prefer.  Please click here for more information or call us at 765.648.2190.

Imagine the joy your sponsored child will have when he is told you just sponsored him!  Trust me.  There will be dancing and praising in the streets!
