Children of Promise cordially invites you to two events that will celebrate 25 years of giving hope to over 12,000 children in 29 countries in the world.

Children of Promise will host a reception in Anderson, Indiana on June 17, 2017 and a banquet in Wichita, Kansas at the Church of God Convention on Wednesday, June 21, 2017.

At 21 years of age, Jewel Leodones works as a Protocol Officer for the newly elected president of The Philippines, Rodrigo Duterte.  Jewel likely did not envision working in the President’s office when she was sponsored through Children of Promise at five years old.  As a sponsored child, Jewel received assistance with her education, nutrition, medical care and spiritual nurture.  She was encouraged and nurtured by her church family and Children of Promise staff  in The Philippines.  She performed well in school which opened the door to studying consular and diplomatic affairs at the prestigious De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde in Manila.

She continues to teach Sunday School to young children at her church in Tondo, Manila.  In 2012 she became the National Youth Coordinator for the Church of God in The Philippines.  She will share her story at both COP 25th Anniversary Celebrations.

Reception – Children of Promise will host a reception on Saturday, June 17, 2017 from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at Madison Park Church of God.  Light refreshments will be served.  Jewel Leodones will share about her life as a sponsored child through Children of Promise.  Alanna Story band will share in concert.  Sisters Ally West and Anna Hodge grew up in a musical family and were steeped in Church of God history.  They, their husbands, Stephen West and Ben Hodge, and friend Joel Burkhead round out the band.  Alanna Story began a partnership with Children of Promise in 2016.  They visited the COP sponsored children in Ecuador with Dr. Paul Maxfield, executive director, and thoroughly immersed themselves with the children.  In late 2016, they began presenting children who need to be sponsored to their concert audiences.

If you plan to attend the 25th Anniversary Reception, please email or drop us a line to Children of Promise, PO Box 2316, Anderson IN 46018 and tell us how many people will be attending with you.  This will help us in preparing for the evening.

Banquet – Children of Promise will host a banquet at the Church of God Convention on Wednesday, June 21, from 4:30 – 6:30 PM. (Doors open at 4:15 PM) at Central Community Church Activities Room.  A meal will be served (menu listed below) after which Jewel Leodones will share about her life in The Philippines and the impact Children of Promise has had on her.  The following missionaries working with Children of Promise programs will be in attendance:  Bobby Mishill (Cote d’Ivoire), Jenny will be in Indiana awaiting the birth of their second child; Jon & Karen Lambert (Ecuador), retiring; and Corey & Abby Stocksdale (Botswana – our 30th country).
