In December, we met with the national executive committee to discuss two locations where the Children of Promise will begin, one in the northern district and one in the central district. The program, set to launch in July 2016, will begin at the Korhogo Petit Paris Church of God, located about five hours north of Yamoussoukro, as well as at the Plate-forme Church of God, located in the center of the country about 30 minutes outside of Yamoussoukro.

We are now in the process of forming a national committee to guide the development of the program in its beginning stages. We are also working on forming local committees, one at each of these two churches. These volunteer committee members will nominate children to apply for sponsorship, purchase and distribute goods to sponsored children, and provide the children with spiritual nurture.

Our goal is to finalize the program manual for “Les Enfants de Promesse,” the French translation of “Children of Promise,” with the national committee and train the local committees on how to run the program in their communities. By April and May, we plan to send the first applications to the international office in Anderson, Indiana, in order to allow processing time for funds to be dispersed to support the first group of sponsored children by July 2016, in time for the program’s launch.

If you are interested in sponsoring a child from Côte d’Ivoire through Children of Promise at $32 per month, please contact the international Children of Promise office (located in Anderson, Indiana) at (765) 648-2190 or visit them online at www.echildrenofpromise.org.
