Until we meet again, Audie!

February 20, 2013

Mrs. Audie Scott, beloved friend and volunteer emeritus of Children of Promise, passed into eternity this afternoon. Audie had such a tender heart for people, especially children and those who were hurting.

For several years, Audie volunteered two full days a week in the COP office in Anderson, Indiana, where she literally did anything that was needed from stuffing envelopes to sewing to cleaning to filing. She was such a great blessing to our staff and the children we serve. Although she never had the opportunity to visit the sponsored children overseas personally, she loved them and prayed for them. I well remember calling her on the phone from Zambia so that a group could sing for her over the cell waves. She loved it.

Audie loved a good laugh and she was game for anything. (See her celebrating her birthday with us – complete with sombrero.)

Audie loved the Lord deeply and was an experienced church pianist. She loved the music of the Kingdom. Many a morning she arrived with another music CD for me to listen to as I worked. Sometimes she brought me a pile of music that she wanted me to add to my collection. Our last time together as a staff with Audie was on December 22, 2012, when we visited her home to sing Christmas carols with her. It was a very precious moment in time for all of us.

Children of Promise expresses our deep love and sympathy to Audie’s husband, Leroy, and the family. We share your grief as well as the joy of celebrating the unique and inspiring life of Audie Scott.

Audie, you are already missed, but so greatly loved and appreciated. Rest well, our friend.
