Mildred Maxfield, mother of Dr. Paul Maxfield, Executive Director of Children of Promise, passed from this life to eternity with her Savior, Jesus Christ, in her sleep on Monday, January 26, 2015 at the age of 95. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Leland Maxfield. They pastored for more than 60 years in the Church of God. She is survived by two daughters, Bernadine & Howard Butz and Adah & George Butz, and one son, Paul & Brenda (Haupt) Maxfield.

Mildred was a very special person to all who love Children of Promise. In 2003, Mildred began making salvation bracelets for Paul and Brenda to use to explain God’s gift of salvation to the sponsored children around the world. Those in the Children of Promise ministry, who travel to visit the children, have had the privilege of seeing the faces of the children….and adults….light up when they realize that a place in Heaven awaits them if they accept Jesus Christ as their personal Savior.

Mildred made over 100,000 bracelets in the last 11+ years. 100,000! Mildred’s bracelets have adorned the children as well as their mothers, fathers, grandmothers, grandfathers, sisters, brothers, and pastors. Mildred’s bracelet ministry has touched thousands of lives. Well done, Mildred.

The funeral service to celebrate her life and ministry will take place on Thursday, Feb. 5, 2015 at Rainier Community Church of God, Rainier, OR. The family has requested that any memorial contributions be sent to Children of Promise for its “Making It All Happen” fund, PO Box 2316, Anderson IN 46018. Condolence cards may also be sent this this address. Donations may be made online .

Please join us in lifting the Maxfields and extended family to the Lord during this bitter-sweet time of farewell and celebration. And, Mildred, thank you for sharing the Gospel message of salvation in Christ with so many. What a lasting legacy you have given Children of Promise.
